Configuring the FAXCOM Server
To work with Quillix Fax for Biscom FAXCOM, the Windows version of the FAXCOM server must be set up with FAXCOM "Queues" and FAXCOM users. The FAXCOM Queues provide access to the FAXCOM Server. The FAXCOM users represent the actual "mailboxes" from which Fax for Biscom FAXCOM will capture inbound faxes.
This documentation does not go into detail about installing, configuring or administering the FAXCOM Server. Refer to the FAXCOM Server documentation for that information.
Fax for Biscom FAXCOM will work with most FAXCOM Server configurations that are based on the following conditions:
- The FAXCOM Server is installed and running.
- The intelligent fax board hardware that provides the fax server with access to the fax input, such as a physical phone line, is installed on the FAXCOM Server computer and configured correctly.
- At least one FAXCOM Queue gateway is established to provide access to the FAXCOM Server. A FAXCOM Queue is a service that you create using the FAXCOM Suite for Windows software. A FAXCOM Queue can be created on same computer as the FAXCOM Server or on a different computer. From Quillix Fax’s point of view, a FAXCOM Queue is essentially a shared folder that is accessible on a network. Currently, one Quillix Fax input source can monitor only a one FAXCOM Queue at a time.
- At least one FAXCOM user is created in association with a FAXCOM Queue. Quillix Fax combines the FAXCOM user information with the FAXCOM Queue share to establish the full path to a folder containing the faxes to be captured. Quillix Fax requires that the mailbox user be created as the "User" type. Other FAXCOM user types, such as "UNC," "Directory Reference," or "Printer" are not currently supported by or do not apply to Quillix Fax.
- FAXCOM delivers a fax to a user mailbox as a TIFF Group 4 (TG4) compressed image. The Quillix Server currently does not recognize a PDF coming from Quillix Fax. PDF is one of the available delivery options FAXCOM supports.
- The appropriate FAXCOM "Route ID" associated with a user’s mailbox is configured to deliver faxes to that mailbox. For example, in the FAXCOM Suite for Windows application, you could configure a mailbox user’s Route ID to be a specific fax port associated with a specific FAXCOM Server.
- In the FAXCOM Suite for Windows application, on the "User List" dialog box that opens for a selected FAXCOM Queue, the "Enable passwords for User Type fax mailboxes" box is not checked. Enabling FAXCOM user type passwords prevents Quillix Process Manager and the Quillix Service from accessing a User type mailbox.
