The Capture Panel

The Capture Panel is used for creating batches from imported files or scanned images, and for modifying batch images and contents using the Document Viewer Quality Control tools.

Creating a Batch

Batches can be created by importing files from your computer, a network folder or share, or from a locally attached scanner.  To create a batch, click the Import Files button on the left of the Case Toolbar to display the Create New Batch dialog.

From the Create New Batch dialog:

The Scan/Import button behaves differently depending on the type of Import Source selected.

Scanning is not available on Mac computers.  However, batches can be created on Mac computers using the File Import source

For more information on Scanning with the Quillix Client, refer to the topic Scanning Pages

The Capture Panel, Scanning capability and Batch Profiles are all controlled by user rights.  You will only have access to these capabilities if assigned to you by a System Administrator

New batches are always placed into the Local Queue when created.  The Local Queue is a private queue that is associated with your login and only you can see. In order for a batch to be started into it's workflow process, it must be completed from the Local Queue. To Complete a batch from the local Queue, click the Complete button on the Case Toolbar (the green check mark).

For more information about Local Queues, or Queues in general, refer to the topic Working with Queues

Working with Existing Batches

Batches don't have to be completed immediately after creation.  They can be held indefinitely in the Local Queue for a variety of reasons.  You may want to import a partial batch at creation time, then add to the batch later.  Or you may want to import a batch now and perform QC operations later.  Existing Batches can be accessed from the Local Queue using the Queue Case List.  The Queue Case List is displayed by clicking on the Queue Case List button on the Case Toolbar (see figure 1).

Ensuring Batch Quality

The batch pages created from the Capture Panel are most likely going to find their way into a document repository at some point. It is usually much easier to correct any visual quality problems with imported pages at the Capture step than at later points in a business process.  This is called Batch Quality Control.
