Upgrading an Existing QCM Installation

Upgrading to Quillix Content Manager 5.x from version 4.x

The QCM 5 Installer will upgrade any QCM System from version 4.x and higher. To ensure a smooth upgrade, please take note of the upgrade prerequisites and special considerations noted below.

As with an upgrade of any software, it is strongly recommended that you back-up your existing QCM database before running the Installer.

Prerequisites

Before running the Installer to upgrade QCM, you should have the following:

1. Login credentials for the QCM Database
2. Login credentials for the Web Server
3. File and directory permissions/credentials on the target installation computer
4. Verify minimum system requirements are met as discussed in the System Requirements topic

Performing the Upgrade

Obtain the Quillix Content Manager Installer, and run on the target computer.

Warning: Subvolume paths configured as System Paths in QCM 4.x must resolve to a local path on this IIS server, or be reconfigured to use a UNC path.

Warning: Quillix 4.x stored authentication information needed to connect to subvolume paths configured as Windows/SAMBA. Quillix 5 creates an IIS Application Pool named QCMAppPool under which QCM Web runs.  This application pool must have its Identity set to a Windows account with read/write access to all storage locations set as Repository subvolumes.
